The Build-a-Bear Workshop, a US chain of 354 stores dedicated to buyers seeking to make their own furry toys, had pre-tax income of $9.2m in the final quarter of 2020.

The St. Louis-based company’s income was 20.8 per cent up on the previous comparable quarter with total revenue of $93.7m, down 10.4 per cent. The full-year situation saw a balance of $34.8m up $8.1m.

The fiscal year for the company ended on January 31, 2021 and despite the pandemic, it showed growth. With international franchising, the group has nearly 500 outlets, reported Sharon Price John, CEO, who said that despite continued interruption to opening, prospects still looked good.

The popular Nintendo Switch game, Animal Crossing, will feature in its product portfolio this year and though a partnership with Sony Pictures the launch of Honey Girls will follow.
