Cinemas in the Los Angeles area of California have reopened at the weekend, according to major movie theatre chain Cinemark.

Ten of the brand’s venues in the city are opening with more to follow. The 10 locations opened on Saturday with enhanced cleaning protocols.

Cinemark CEO Mark Zoradi said: “Los Angeles is one of the most meaningful moviegoing markets in the world, and we look forward to providing moviegoers the entertainment experience they have been craving with the health and safety protocols they can trust.

“With an extensive list of blockbusters set to release in the coming months and nearly 90 per cent of our US circuit open, there is no better time to get back to the theatre.”

Cinemark operates 531 theatres, 331 in the US and 200 in South and Central America.
