Coin-op amusements news | MAF hotels win coveted award

The hotels in the Majid Al Futtaim portfolio – also owner of the iconic Magic Planet family entertainment centre chain – have been awarded LEED Platinum certification.

The Dubai-based shopping malls development company, with its own holding in the hotels industry and its widely-based entertainment division, is the only conglomerate in the world to achieve the certification for its entire portfolio.

There are 13 properties in the hotels holding at MAF and the LEED accreditation – it stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design – will take the group a step closer to its ambition to become a net positive business by 2040.

The accreditation was awarded by Green Business Certification to mark on-going sustainability efforts. The 13 MAF hotels, all of which were awarded the platinum level, are in two brands, Ibis Novotel Deira and Ibis Novotel, Mall of the Emirates, both amassing a maximum of 88 points on the LEED rating system.
