A new arcade featuring 200 retro and modern machines is set to open in Milton Keynes this summer, offering free-to-play original cabinets from the 1970s to the present.

The Pixel Bunker will open on Secklow Gate West on 4 June, as part of the National Film and Sci-Fi Museum complex, with a focus on celebrating original machines.

“We currently have a collection of over 200 dedicated arcade cabinets and an additional 150 game boards meaning we have over 350 games to choose from,” said a spokesperson. “And we are adding new machines every week.”

“Every month the arcade floor will change as we alternate different games from our collection, meaning each time you visit you will get a different playing experience.”

The Pixel Bunker added that “with the exception of a few replaced parts here and there,” all of its machines are “completely original arcade cabinets fully restored by our in-house team.” “The games are not run on emulators and the displays in our machines have not been replaced with newer LCD screens.”

The arcade will also feature a bar and cafe, set to open in August, and feature three sessions each day, at 10am, 1.30pm and 5pm from Tuesday to Sundays.
