Northern Ireland arcades earmark return to action on 24 May

Northern Ireland’s arcades and bingo halls have been given a provisional reopening date of 24 May by the country’s Executive, one week later than counterparts in England, Wales and Scotland.
The delay comes as the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency confirmed Covid deaths had risen over the week to 16 April, with the Executive warning that the reopening dates remain “indicative.”
“An indicative date of 24 May has been set for the reopening of indoor visitor and cultural attractions, such as museums, galleries, cinemas and bingo halls,” stated the Northern Ireland Executive guidelines. “This will be subject to review.”
As well as arcades and bingo halls, the guidance includes all hospitality venues and indoor tourist attractions, including cinemas, bowling alleys, skating rinks, inflatable parks, go-karting venues, soft play centres, indoor museums and galleries.
Ahead of reopening, the Executive urged venues to incorporate customer guidance “on how to minimise the risk of exposure to and the spread of coronavirus,” as well as taking steps to “ensure anyone within your venue maintains a distance of two metres from others (unless members of the same or a linked household) by altering the layout if necessary.”
