Skelmersdale poised for new entertainment complex

Skelmersdale’s Concourse Centre could be the home of a new entertainment and leisure complex, featuring an arcade, bowling alley, mini-golf course, soft play centre and VR room.

WonderWorld, a joint venture between London and Cambridge Properties and Threadneedle Investments, will also feature dodgems, an inflatable obstacle course, bars and restaurants.

“These leisure plans promise to be transformative for the people of Skelmersdale, who have waited so long for such a first-class entertainment facility,” said LCP retail director Andrew Barrett. “This will not just boost the amenities in the area, it will also be great for the economy, creating jobs and hopefully attracting further inward investment.”

The complex, which will occupy the entire second floor of the Concourse, will create between 50 and 60 new jobs, and include a performance stage, American diner, cafe, and eight-stall street food court.

“We really invested time into looking at what a family needs and wants to make a great day out,” said director of Lancashire-based Moorgate Developments David Halliwell.

“It will be possible to spend all day in WonderWorld with friends and family and be entertained.”
