South Parade Pier has launched a new payment system for its Kidz Island Family Fun Park, ahead of reopening to the public on 12 April.

Following extensive improvements to the Southsea landmark’s ride offering, the pier is set to replace its wristband and token system with a new Fun Pass.

“Last year there were six rides,” said a spokesperson for the park. “This year again the independent owners have invested and there will be eight rides in total, two of which are brand new, to add to the three brand new rides that were introduced last year!”

“Therefore the wristband/token operation we had last year has been carefully under review. The decision has been made to introduce a new system called Fun Pass. This is a great system and Fun Passes have been a proven success in lots of other similar locations.”

The credit card-sized passes can be loaded with credits at the park’s cash desk, allowing visitors to tap their card on each ride’s payment point before riding.

The pier also noted that the more credits that are added to the card “the cheaper each credit becomes.”

“It’s a great way to bring fun, value and a logical income that we hope will suit everyone.”
