Bacta has launched Miles for Smiles, a new keep fit initiative inviting members to enjoy a bit of “healthy competition” during February and March.

Bacta has launched a new exercise initiative entitled Miles for Smiles, intended to bring “much needed fun and exercise” to its members during the months of February and March.

Members are invited to keep active however they choose over the course of the two months, while logging their exercise on the milesforsmiles.uk website to compare with other participants.

“Whatever type of exercise you take, from a walk in the park, a cycle outdoors or on a static bike, or even a session with Joe Wicks – it will be converted by the website’s algorithms into ‘Smile Miles,’” said Bacta CEO John White.

Bacta Miles for Smiles facts so far“You can join a team of four – or enter on your own and we will report who is achieving the most miles, as well as logging how many miles we are all managing to achieve together.” As well as giving members a dose of “healthy competition” the initiative also aims to raise money for the bacta Charitable Trust through voluntary donations and sponsorship.

“Everyone taking part is welcome to make a donation to the bacta Charitable Trust, or encourage their employer to sponsor their team – however – we know times are tough, so if you can’t donate right now, don’t worry, but please join in,” said White.

“Our very own Mr Motivator – Tony Glanville from RLMS, will be cheering us on and I will be taking part in a bid to get rid of some lockdown pounds.”

All those interested in taking part are encouraged to contact steph@upgradepr.com, who will enter entrants’ names onto the Miles for Smiles system to allow them to log miles via their phone or device, with the competition running until 30 March.

“We hope you will join us and together we can get fit and have fun.”
